Cameroon’s hopes of progressing in the TotalEnergies CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (U-17 AFCON) remain in jeopardy after they were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by South Africa’s Amajimbos in their second Group B encounter.
After a narrow 2-1 defeat to Burkina Faso, the Cubs were desperate for three points but failed to convert their dominance into goals. David Bondoma came closest, rattling the post in the first half before seeing a late solo effort thwarted in the dying moments.
South Africa, fresh from their dramatic comeback win over Egypt, struggled to impose their usual free-flowing passing game as Cameroon pressed aggressively. However, the Amajimbos held firm, securing a point that edges them closer to the knockout stage and a FIFA U-17 World Cup ticket.
With just one point from two matches, Cameroon must now overcome Egypt in their final group match to keep their qualification hopes alive. South Africa, meanwhile, will have to wait for the final round of fixtures to confirm their passage to the next stage.

Uganda Bounce Back in Style to Defeat Tanzania
Following a crushing 4-0 loss to Morocco, Uganda reignited their U-17 AFCON campaign with a convincing 3-0 victory over Tanzania on Thursday.
A dominant second-half display saw Simon Wanyama, Richard Okello, and James Bogere get on the scoresheet, securing three crucial points and boosting Uganda’s qualification hopes.
The game was evenly contested in the first half, with Uganda looking sharp in attack through Wanyama, Bogere, and Isima Magala, while Tanzania attempted to break through but lacked the final touch.
The deadlock was finally broken in the 61st minute, as Wanyama slotted home to settle Uganda’s nerves. Okello doubled the lead in the 85th minute, pouncing on a defensive lapse, before Bogere converted a late penalty to seal the win.
The victory sees Uganda climb the standings, while Tanzania remain bottom, with their knockout-stage hopes hanging by a thread.
