Remo Stars Football Club marked a monumental achievement in Nigerian football history by celebrating their first-ever Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title with a vibrant victory parade through Remoland on Friday, May 16, 2025. The Sky Blue Stars’ triumph not only signifies their inaugural league title but also ends a 25-year title drought for South-West clubs, making them the first from the region to clinch the NPFL since Julius Berger in 2000 .

A Historic Triumph

Founded in 2010 by Kunle Soname, Remo Stars’ ascent to the pinnacle of Nigerian football has been swift and impressive. Under the guidance of head coach Daniel Ogunmodede, the team secured the 2024/25 NPFL title with a decisive 1-0 victory over Katsina United on April 27, 2025 . This victory not only crowned them champions but also underscored their dominance throughout the season.

The Celebratory Parade

The celebratory procession commenced at 9:00 AM from Our Saviour’s Anglican Church in Ikenne, traversing through key towns including Sagamu and Remo North, before culminating back in Ikenne. Thousands of enthusiastic supporters lined the streets, adorned in the team’s signature sky-blue colors, cheering and celebrating alongside the players. The open-top bus, festooned with vibrant decorations, became a symbol of pride and unity for the community .

Community and Leadership Support

The parade was not only a celebration for the team but also for the entire Remoland community. Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, who was present during the official trophy presentation, lauded the team’s achievement, stating, “Remo Stars have brought immense pride to Ogun State and have set a benchmark for excellence in Nigerian football.” The event also saw attendance from notable figures such as National Sports Commission Chairman Shehu Dikko and Nigeria Football Federation President Ibrahim Gusau, highlighting the significance of this accomplishment on a national scale .

Looking Ahead

With this historic victory, Remo Stars have not only etched their name in the annals of Nigerian football but have also secured a spot in the 2025 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League. As they prepare to represent Nigeria on the continental stage, the team’s focus will be on building upon this success and striving for greater heights in African football.

The triumph of Remo Stars serves as an inspiration, demonstrating that with vision, dedication, and community support, remarkable achievements are possible. Their journey from a modest club to national champions encapsulates the spirit of perseverance and ambition, setting a precedent for future generations in Nigerian sports.
