The Confederation of African Football (CAF), in collaboration with sponsor TotalEnergies, is set to unveil a new trophy and refreshed identity for the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League. The unveiling ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, May 22, 2025, at the TotalEnergies offices in Johannesburg, South Africa.

This event precedes the highly anticipated two-legged final between South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns and Egypt’s Pyramids FC. The first leg is slated for Saturday, May 24, at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria, while the second leg will take place on Sunday, June 1, at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo.

The unveiling ceremony will be attended by African football legends and representatives from the finalist clubs, adding to the excitement surrounding the final. This initiative marks a significant step in CAF’s efforts to enhance the profile and image of its interclub competitions.

The event also coincides with the recent renewal of the partnership between CAF and TotalEnergies, extending their collaboration for another four years. Details of the new trophy design will be revealed during the ceremony.

As the final approaches, both Mamelodi Sundowns and Pyramids FC are preparing for a historic clash. Sundowns secured their place in the final after a dramatic draw with Al Ahly, advancing on away goals. Pyramids FC reached their first-ever Champions League final by defeating Orlando Pirates in a thrilling semi-final.

The unveiling of the new trophy symbolizes a new era for African club football, reflecting CAF’s commitment to innovation and excellence in the sport.
