FIFA President Gianni Infantino has extended his congratulations to Remo Stars Football Club following their historic Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title win. In a personally signed letter dated May 21, 2025, addressed to NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, Infantino praised the Ikenne-based club for their remarkable achievement.
“By means of this letter, I am pleased to congratulate the new champions of Nigeria, Remo Stars FC.
Their constant efforts and results throughout the season have paid off, resulting in this important title,” Infantino wrote. “Congratulations to each and every member of the team and of the club for this great achievement.”
The FIFA boss also commended the NFF for its continued dedication to football development in Nigeria and expressed hope to meet with its leadership soon.
Remo Stars’ NPFL triumph has attracted widespread praise. On April 28, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu hailed the victory as a milestone that placed Ikenne and Ogun State in the national spotlight. The following day, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun applauded the club’s determination and historic success, calling it an unprecedented feat in the state’s football history.
This is Remo Stars’ first-ever NPFL title, a victory that has firmly etched their name in Nigerian football’s record books.
