Brighton & Hove Albion have officially announced the signing of Nigerian international goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie on a free transfer, with the deal set to be completed on July 1, following the expiration of her contract with Paris FC. The transfer is subject to the usual regulatory approvals.
In a statement released by the club, women’s first team head coach Dario Vidosic expressed his excitement over the arrival of the 24-year-old shot-stopper.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Chiamaka to the club. She’s a talented and commanding goalkeeper who will bring consistency and confidence to our defensive line.
She has competed at the highest level, with valuable experience in a variety of cup competitions including the Champions League. We’re confident she’ll add both depth and drive to a squad already full of ambition as we continue to build for next season.”
Nnadozie joins Brighton after a highly successful stint at Paris FC, where she made 118 appearances across all competitions. She played a pivotal role in the club’s 2025 Coupe de France Féminine triumph, saving two penalties in the final against Paris Saint-Germain to secure the title.
Between 2022 and 2025, Nnadozie featured 16 times in the UEFA Women’s Champions League and earned multiple individual accolades. In 2024, she made history by becoming the first African player to win the UNFP Division 1 Féminine Goalkeeper of the Season. She also received the D1 Arkema Best Goalkeeper of the Season and UNFP Goalkeeper of the Season awards in the same year.
Before moving to Europe, Nnadozie was a standout performer for Rivers Angels in Nigeria. During her time with the club, she helped them win the Nigeria Women’s Premier League title in 2019 and secured three Nigeria Women’s Cup trophies. Her stellar performances earned her the IFFHS Africa’s Best Woman Goalkeeper award in 2019.
On the international stage, she has been a mainstay for Nigeria since making her senior debut in April 2018 against France, after progressing through the U-17 and U-20 ranks. Nnadozie has amassed 55 caps for the Super Falcons, becoming one of the most reliable figures in Nigerian women’s football.
Her move to Brighton signals a significant step forward for the Women’s Super League side as they strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming season.
