Belgian Pro League side FCV Dender have confirmed the signing of Super Eagles centre-back Benjamin Fredrick on a season-long loan from English Premier League club Brentford, according to Bold Sports.

The club made the announcement through an official statement published on their website Friday, expressing enthusiasm over the addition of the talented young Nigerian defender.

“We are delighted to announce the arrival of Benjamin Fredrick. The 20-year-old defender is on loan from English club Brentford this season,” the club stated.

Fredrick joined Brentford from Kaduna-based Simoiben Academy and quickly impressed in his debut season in England, earning the Brentford U-21 Player’s Player of the Season award for his stellar performances in the club’s development squad.

Before making his move abroad, Fredrick was a key figure in Nigeria’s U-20 national team, playing every minute of their campaign at the 2023 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, where the team finished third. He also featured in Nigeria’s squad at the FIFA U-20 World Cup the same year.

Fredrick’s progression continued with a debut for the senior national team, the Super Eagles, during the 2025 Unity Cup final against Jamaica. Nigeria triumphed via penalties after a 2-2 draw in regulation time.

Now set to begin a new chapter in Belgium, Fredrick will aim to further develop his career in a league that has historically served as a launchpad for several top Nigerian footballers, including Wilfred Ndidi and Paul Onuachu.
