Paul Onuachu was once more on target for Trabzonspor as the Nigerian striker continued his impressive start to the season, but his early goal was not enough to secure victory in a tense 1-1 draw against Samsunspor.

The towering forward gave Trabzonspor the perfect start in front of their home fans, rising to meet Oleksandr Zubkov’s cross with a stunning diving header in the 16th minute. The goal showcased the striker’s trademark aerial dominance and put the Black Sea Storm ahead.

Onuachu, however, picked up a yellow card just eight minutes later in what was a physical first half. Despite his caution, the Nigerian remained a constant presence in attack before being substituted in the 82nd minute.

Trabzonspor looked set to collect all three points, but Samsunspor fought back late on. With just two minutes of normal time remaining, Belgian striker Marius found the equaliser, silencing the home supporters and denying Trabzonspor a perfect record.

The draw means Trabzonspor have dropped their first points of the new campaign. They had been hoping to keep pace with defending champions Galatasaray, who remain the only side to win all four of their opening matches.
