Nigerian international Victor Boniface is set to complete a loan move to Werder Bremen from Bayer Leverkusen, with the deal running until June 2026. The striker has already passed his medical, and only the final signatures remain before the transfer is made official. As part of the agreement, Leverkusen will continue to cover a portion of his wages.

The 23-year-old came close to joining AC Milan earlier in the window, but the proposed deal fell apart after complications during his medicals in Italy. That setback forced Milan to turn their attention elsewhere, leaving Boniface’s future uncertain.
However, Werder Bremen moved quickly to capitalize on securing a player proven in the Bundesliga and admired for his blend of physicality, hold-up play, and sharp finishing.
Boniface, who made a name for himself at Union Saint-Gilloise before moving to Leverkusen, will now look to revive momentum in his career at Werder Bremen. The Weserstadion faithful will be eager to see if he can rediscover the form that made him one of the most feared forwards in Germany last season.
At Bremen, Boniface will carry the hopes of not only the club but also Nigerian fans keen to see him get back to his best after a frustrating summer. With his combination of pace, strength, and finishing, he is expected to lead the line and give Werder Bremen a new attacking edge.
The move also offers him a chance at redemption after the Milan disappointment, showing once again that setbacks in football can quickly turn into fresh opportunities.
