Kwara United of Nigeria put up a strong fight but lost 4–3 to Ghana’s Asante Kotoko in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup qualifier at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
The home side took the lead in the 18th minute through Emmanuel Antiw, but Kwara’s Johnmark Aule equalized in the 34th minute. Kotoko scored again just before halftime, only for Aule to strike once more in stoppage time to make it 2–2 at the break.
In the second half, Kotoko went ahead with goals from Joshua Ablorh and a penalty by Albert Amoah to lead 4–2. Kwara United refused to give up, with Shola Abdulraheem scoring late in the 85th minute to cut the deficit to 4–3.

Return Leg in Ilorin
Despite the narrow loss, Kwara United head back home with plenty of hope. A solid display in Ilorin could be enough to overturn the deficit and book a place in the next round of the competition.
