Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman has intensified rumors about a potential transfer by removing all references to Atalanta from his Instagram profile. This comes shortly after the club rejected a €45 million bid from Serie A rivals Inter Milan.
Inter Milan formally submitted the offer in recent days, but Atalanta stood firm, maintaining their €50 million valuation of the Nigerian star. Despite ongoing negotiations and the player’s personal agreement with Inter already in place, Atalanta have shown no indication of budging from their demands.
Frustration appears to be mounting on Lookman’s end. The 27-year-old has updated his Instagram bio to simply state “Football player for Nigeria,” omitting any mention of Atalanta. Additionally, he has removed his profile photo and deleted nearly all images of himself in the club’s jersey, a move often seen in football circles as a clear sign of unrest or an impending exit.
Lookman is reportedly eager to join Inter and work under manager Christian Chivu, but the stalled negotiations have created uncertainty around the transfer timeline.
Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi recently commented on the situation, confirming the offer from Inter but reaffirming the club’s control over the final decision.
“Lookman wants to leave since long time ago. We have a proposal from Inter but it’s us deciding timing and valuation for our own players,” Percassi stated.
Meanwhile, Inter are not willing to wait indefinitely. Club president Giuseppe Marotta has reportedly issued an internal deadline for the deal, warning that if no breakthrough is made soon, the club will pivot to other attacking targets.
Lookman had a standout season with Atalanta, contributing key goals and assists across domestic and European competitions. His market value has soared following his strong performances, making him one of the most sought-after forwards in the transfer window.
