Bayelsa Queens have secured their sixth Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership title, triumphing in the 2024/25 season’s Super Six playoffs. The Prosperity Girls delivered a commanding 4-1 victory over Naija Ratels in their final match, ensuring they topped the Super Six standings with 10 points. This win not only dethroned defending champions Edo Queens but also solidified Bayelsa Queens’ position as the third most successful club in NWFL history.
Unbeaten Run and Strategic Victories
Throughout the regular campaign, Bayelsa Queens remained unbeaten but in the Super Six playoffs they lost that streak to Edo Queens, securing three wins and one draw. Their consistent performance was pivotal in clinching the title, especially as other contenders faltered in crucial moments. Notably, Nasarawa Amazons, who needed a win to claim the championship, were held to a goalless draw by Edo Queens, while Remo Stars Ladies suffered a 2-1 defeat to Rivers Angels.
