With the Nigeria Swimming Federation spearheading efforts at grassroots and elite levels, the recognition from World Aquatics is seen as both a reward for the athletes’ hard work and evidence of Nigeria’s growing footprint in international aquatics. Notably, the scholarship scheme is reserved for swimmers over the age of 18 with demonstrable Olympic potential, underscoring the level of trust placed in Opute and Ebingha’s abilities.
