Super Eagles defender Bright Osayi-Samuel has reportedly suffered a burglary at his residence in Istanbul, Turkey, adding to the growing uncertainty surrounding his future at Fenerbahçe, where he is widely expected to depart this summer.
According to Turkish outlet Sports Digitale, as cited by Milliyet, the 27-year-old was left rattled after intruders broke into his home. While no physical harm was reported, local authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. Further specifics about the burglary have yet to be disclosed.
The timing of the incident is particularly disruptive, coinciding with intense speculation over Osayi-Samuel’s next career move. His contract with Fenerbahçe is set to expire at the end of the current season, and all renewal talks have reportedly collapsed.
Earlier this month, Fotomac claimed that Crystal Palace had reached a broad agreement to sign the Nigerian international, offering a four-and-a-half-year deal worth €4 million per season. A return to English football seems imminent, with several Premier League and Championship clubs also said to be monitoring his situation.
The Lagos-born full-back previously featured for Queens Park Rangers before making a €500,000 switch to Istanbul in 2021. Since then, he has become a key figure at Fenerbahçe, with 176 appearances, 7 goals, and a significant number of assists to his name. This season alone, he has played 37 matches, registering 8 assists.
Adding to the exit rumours, Milliyet reported that Osayi-Samuel has already started shipping personal items back to England. Despite interest from Fenerbahçe’s new manager José Mourinho, who reportedly wants to retain him, the player appears determined to return to English football.
With his future seemingly away from Turkey, the burglary incident marks yet another chapter in what has become a dramatic and uncertain end to his time with the Yellow-Navy Blues.
