Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has been shortlisted for the prestigious 2025 Women’s Yachine Trophy, following an exceptional year at both club and international levels.
The 24-year-old shot-stopper was a key figure in Paris FC’s Coupe de France victory, delivering two crucial saves in a tense penalty shootout against Paris Saint-Germain. The win marked Paris FC’s first major trophy in over 20 years, with Nnadozie earning widespread praise for her composure and reflexes under pressure.
On the international stage, Nnadozie played a pivotal role in Nigeria’s historic Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) triumph, helping the Super Falcons secure their 10th continental title. She kept four clean sheets throughout the tournament, was named Best Goalkeeper, and was included in the WAFCON Team of the Tournament for her consistent and commanding performances.
Her standout displays did not go unnoticed, leading to a high-profile transfer to Brighton & Hove Albion in the Women’s Super League ahead of the 2025–26 season. The move marks a significant step in her club career and signals her rising influence in women’s football.
Nnadozie is one of only five goalkeepers nominated for the Women’s Yachine Trophy, an award presented at the Ballon d’Or ceremony to the best women’s goalkeeper in the world. She is joined on the shortlist by:
- Ann-Katrin Berger (Germany)
- Cata Coll (Spain)
- Hannah Hampton (England)
- Daphne van Domselaar (Netherlands)
The winner will be officially announced at the Ballon d’Or awards ceremony later this year, where Nnadozie stands a strong chance of becoming the first African goalkeeper to win the honour.
Her nomination is a testament to her world-class talent, resilience, and growing reputation as one of the best goalkeepers in global women’s football.
