Super Falcons and Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has been officially recognized among the elite in world football after finishing fourth in the 2025 Women’s Yashin Trophy ranking.
The Yashin Trophy, presented under the Ballon d’Or awards, celebrates the top female goalkeepers globally. This year’s honor went to Chelsea and England’s Hannah Hampton, with Ann-Katrin Berger (Gotham FC) and Barcelona’s Cata Coll placing second and third respectively. Daphne van Domselaar of Arsenal rounded out the top five.
For Nnadozie, the recognition crowns a year of excellence both for club and country. She was pivotal in Nigeria’s 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations triumph in Morocco, where the Super Falcons lifted their 10th continental title. Her commanding performances included four clean sheets and just two goals conceded in open play.
At club level, Nnadozie carved her name into history books by becoming the first Nigerian goalkeeper to feature in the English Women’s Super League after her move to Brighton & Hove Albion. Prior to that, she shone at Paris FC, winning the 2024 UNFP Goalkeeper of the Season award and starring in their Coupe de France Féminine victory with decisive penalty saves.
While the trophy slipped away this year, her top-four finish underlines her growing influence on the global stage and marks a milestone for African football. Nnadozie continues to inspire as one of the most formidable goalkeepers in the world.
