Fisayo Dele Bashiru’s Lazio navigated their way past Viktoria Plzen to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Europa League, holding on to a 3-2 aggregate win over two legs.

The first leg saw Lazio emerge 1-2 winners over in Plzen who did all they could to draw level ahead of the second leg.

With redemption the target for Plzen, the tie went from bad to worse when they conceded the first goal of the return leg in the 13th minute, extending the deficit to two goals.

Plzen equalized on the night in the 31st minute and piled on the pressure to get the equalizer but Lazio held on to qualify to the next round.

Fisayo Dele Bashiru was introduced in the 79th minute of play as he slowly works his way back to full fitness. Fisayo was conspicuously omitted from Eric Chelle’s 23-man Super Eagles list for this international window despite becoming a mainstay in the team in recent windows.
