Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers has expressed his delight after contributing a goal and an assist in Rangers’ stunning 3-1 away victory over Fenerbahce. However, he has cautioned that the job is only half done, emphasizing the need to finish strong in the second leg to secure a place in the quarterfinals.

Dessers opened the scoring for Rangers in the seventh minute and later set up Václav Černý for his first goal of the night. The Nigerian forward came close to a hat-trick, but two of his goals were ruled out for offside by the slimmest of margins.

With a two-goal advantage heading into the return leg at Ibrox, Rangers need only a draw to book their spot in the quarterfinals. Despite his excitement, Dessers remains cautious.

“It’s a great feeling. It was a good night, but we know we’re only halfway there,” Dessers said after the game. “We have to enjoy this evening. Winning against a strong team in a tough stadium should give us confidence.”

He also expressed disappointment over the disallowed goals, saying, “It’s a shame the goals were canceled.”

On the other side, Fenerbahce midfielder Dusan Tadic lamented his team’s defensive lapses and missed opportunities but remains optimistic about their chances in the second leg.

“It was definitely an unexpected result,” Tadic admitted. “Rangers are a quality team, but so are we. We conceded goals too easily, which we shouldn’t have allowed.

“We could have been much more organized. They punished our mistakes. This was just the first half of the tie, and we will go there to win. Our goal is to get a good result and advance to the next round.”
