The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially confirmed that the 2025 President Federation Cup final will take place at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos on Saturday, 28th June 2025.

This marks the second consecutive year that the historic Lagos venue—nestled by the waterfront—will host the grand finale of Nigeria’s oldest domestic football competition.

The announcement, made on Monday, June 9 by the NFF, sets the stage for an exciting end to the prestigious tournament. In 2024, the same stadium witnessed El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri defeat Abia Warriors to clinch the men’s title, while Rivers Angels edged Naija Ratels 1-0 to win the women’s crown.

The Mobolaji Johnson Arena continues Lagos State’s long-standing tradition with the Federation Cup. The city has now hosted an impressive 60 final matches across several decades, under different names such as the Governor’s Cup, FA Cup, Challenge Cup, and now the President’s Federation Cup.

Historically, 18 of those finals were held at King George V Stadium between 1945 and 1962, later renamed Lagos City Stadium. From 1974 onward, the National Stadium in Surulere became the primary venue, hosting 22 finals until 2002. Teslim Balogun Stadium followed suit with eight finals between 2007 and 2016.

Other cities and venues have also played host, including Liberty Stadium in Ibadan, Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi, Ahmadu Bello Stadium and Ranchers Bees Stadium in Kaduna, Sam Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, and more recently, the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.

This year’s men’s final will feature the tournament’s underdog sensation, Abakaliki FC of Ebonyi State, taking on NPFL side Kwara United FC of Ilorin. In the women’s final, reigning champions Rivers Angels will face a formidable challenge from Nasarawa Amazons of Lafia in what promises to be a fiercely contested battle.

As anticipation builds, fans across the country are expected to turn their attention to Lagos for what is set to be a fitting climax to Nigeria’s most storied cup competition.
