Nigerian winger Moses Simon reached a significant career milestone over the weekend, marking his 200th appearance for FC Nantes during their 1–1 Ligue 1 draw away to AJ Auxerre.
Though the match itself didn’t showcase Simon at his best, the achievement underscores his enduring influence and commitment since joining Les Canaris in August 2019. Over the years, Simon has evolved into a vital figure for the French side, known for his pace, flair, and consistency.
Across all competitions — Ligue 1, Coupe de France, Trophée des Champions, Coupe de la Ligue, and the UEFA Europa League — Simon has notched 36 goals and 41 assists in his 200 appearances.
In the current campaign, the Super Eagles star has played a key role in Nantes’ fight to avoid relegation, contributing to 16 league goals (7 goals, 9 assists) in 32 appearances. His creative spark and attacking output have been a rare bright spot in a turbulent season for the club.
With just one game remaining in the Ligue 1 season, Simon is expected to play a critical role as Nantes seeks to secure their top-flight status.
Adding to his week of recognition, Simon was also nominated for Goal of the Season at the Ligue 1 end-of-season awards. His dazzling solo goal against Rennes in December — where he weaved past four defenders before delivering a superb finish — was one of the standout moments of the campaign.
Although the award ultimately went to Amine Gouiri for his strike against Brest, Simon’s nomination highlights his ability to produce game-changing brilliance.
As Nantes brace for a decisive final fixture, all eyes will once again be on Moses Simon to inspire his side when it matters most.
