The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced the appointment of Erenayo Dorcas Koki, a respected journalist and football commentator with NigeriaInfo FM, as the new Media Officer of the U17 women’s national team, Flamingos.

Koki, a Port Harcourt–based broadcaster, brings years of rich experience covering both local and international sporting events, coupled with a reputation for bold story-telling, incisive analysis, and passionate advocacy for women’s sports, particularly women’s football.

A Successor to Monsurah Olatunji

She succeeds Monsurah Olatunji, the vibrant and energetic media personality who handled communications for the team during the 2022 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup finals in the Dominican Republic. Before Olatunji, the role was held by Faith Meremegbunam, another familiar figure in Nigerian women’s football communications.

The NFF described Koki’s appointment as a deliberate move to strengthen the Flamingos’ media visibility at a crucial time, as the team prepares for the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.

Koki’s Vision for the Flamingos

Speaking after her appointment, Koki outlined an ambitious media strategy designed to bring the Flamingos closer to Nigerians and expand their reach globally.

“I will work with the NFF Communication department to amplify the voices of the players and coaches, to ensure the team’s journey is shared with all stakeholders countrywide and beyond. My vision is to make the Flamingos a household name, not only during tournaments but all-year round. We will tell their stories in ways that inspire pride, build fan connection, and position the team as the future of Nigeria football, by combining fresh digital content, stronger media engagement and authentic story-telling.”
