The Referees Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced a high-profile lineup of match officials for the 2025 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Super Six, set to kick off in Ikenne, Ogun State, on May 9.
Heading the team of referees is Oluwatosin Omotoye from Osun State, one of the few women currently officiating in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). She will be joined by Dominion Chisom Kalu (Enugu State), Gbemisola Yusuf (Lagos State), and Semiat Mustapha (Oyo State)—all of whom impressed at the 2024 edition in Yenagoa. Making her debut on this big stage is Diana Ejiro James from Plateau State.
The referee list reflects the NFF’s strong commitment to developing female officiating talent, with several officials coming through the prestigious FIFA Member Association (MA) Young Talent Course.
Among the assistant referees are 2024 FIFA MA course graduates Patience Azi (Plateau State) and Stephanie Embafan (Benue State), along with Tosin Sule (Osun State), Oliver Njoku (Imo State), Oluwole Omowumi Adeola (Lagos State), and Kindek Ogbein (Cross River State).
In total, twelve match officials have been selected for the tournament, which will see six of the country’s top clubs—Rivers Angels, Bayelsa Queens, Remo Stars Ladies, Nasarawa Amazons, Naija Ratels, and Edo Queens—battle for the league crown.
Since the introduction of the playoff format in 2021, the NWFL Premiership has seen four different champions, highlighting the depth and competitiveness of Nigeria’s women’s top flight. This year’s edition brings together past champions Bayelsa Queens, Rivers Angels, and Edo Queens, along with Nasarawa Amazons and title hopefuls Remo Stars Ladies and Naija Ratels, who are chasing their maiden triumph.
