Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) began their 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) campaign with a narrow 0–1 home defeat to Bayelsa United on Sunday. The match, played at the Lekan Salami Stadium, was also the first outing for newly appointed head coach Nurudeen Aweroro, who took charge of the Oluyole Warriors ahead of the new season.

Bayelsa United secured the decisive moment in the 30th minute through Lawal Kehinde, whose strike proved enough to separate the sides. Despite changes before halftime, including the introduction of Mustapha A. and Alex, Shooting Stars could not find a breakthrough, as the visitors held firm under pressure.

While the result was not what the Ibadan faithful had hoped for, the team will look to bounce back quickly in upcoming fixtures. For Bayelsa United, the victory represents a strong start to their NPFL campaign and an early boost of confidence away from home.
