The National Sports Commission (NSC) has reassured Nigerians that the Super Falcons will receive all their promised financial and welfare benefits, dismissing recent rumours about unpaid bonuses. Speaking on Arise TV, NSC Director-General Bukola Olopade confirmed that all outstanding bonuses were cleared before the team’s final game against Morocco. He acknowledged that only minor banking challenges may have delayed payment for a few players, but insisted that the Commission remains committed to fulfilling every obligation.

Olopade further emphasized that the $100,000 reward promised by President Bola Tinubu for the Falcons’ 2024 WAFCON triumph would be honoured. He explained that the delays experienced by some players bonus were not due to negligence but technical banking issues with the Central Bank of Nigeria. He assured that both the NSC and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) were aligned in ensuring every player gets their entitlement without delay.

In addition to financial commitments, the NSC chief revealed that arrangements are underway with the Ministry of Works and Housing to deliver the houses pledged to the team under the Renewed Hope Housing Initiative. His remarks followed Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade’s public concerns over unpaid entitlements, to which Olopade responded by reiterating the Commission’s dedication to athlete welfare. He maintained that the NSC does not take athlete remuneration lightly and is working to resolve all outstanding issues promptly.
