Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare has penned an emotional farewell to Belgian club Genk and their fans after completing a dream move to the English Premier League with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 24-year-old Nigerian forward, who spent two successful years in Belgium, confirmed his departure in a heartfelt statement shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account.

“Genk Will Always Have a Place in My Heart”

In his message, Arokodare expressed gratitude to his teammates, coaches, and the fans who stood by him throughout his time at the club.

“After two years with this club and amazing fans, it’s time for me to take the next step in my career. I want to thank every single teammate, coach and supporter who has been with me on this journey. The city of Genk has been nothing but good to me, and it will always be a place that I treasure. I leave proud to have played for this badge and I wish the club nothing but success in the future. Thank you for every moment in blue.”

Wolves Confirm £24m Deal for Arokodare

Just 24 hours before his farewell, reports confirmed that Wolves had agreed a £24 million transfer fee to secure the services of the powerful forward.

Arokodare arrives at Molineux after finishing last season as the joint-top scorer in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League, netting 21 goals as Genk clinched a third-place finish. In total, he recorded 41 goals in 113 appearances for the Belgian side since joining from Latvian outfit Valmiera in 2023.

Wolves Strengthen Attack Ahead of New Season

At Wolves, Arokodare is expected to provide attacking depth alongside Norway international Jorgen Strand Larsen, who remains a key figure in Vitor Pereira’s plans despite significant transfer interest. Newcastle United reportedly submitted bids of £50 million and £55 million for Larsen, both of which were rejected by Wolves.

Coach Vitor Pereira has long insisted on the need for another proven forward to reduce the burden on Larsen, and Arokodare’s arrival is seen as reinforcement rather than replacement.

A New Chapter for the Super Eagles Forward

Arokodare’s rise has been steady, from his early days in Latvia to becoming one of the most prolific strikers in Belgium, and now stepping onto the grand stage of the Premier League.

With his physical presence, aerial ability, and eye for goal, the Nigerian international is expected to adapt quickly to English football and strengthen his case for a regular spot with the Super Eagles ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
