Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare announced himself to Wolverhampton Wanderers fans on Tuesday night, scoring his first goal for the club in a 2-0 win against Everton in the EFL Cup (Carabao Cup) third round at Molineux.

The towering 6ft 6in forward sealed the result in the 88th minute with a clever chip over goalkeeper Mark Travers, sparking jubilant celebrations among teammates and supporters. His strike followed Marshall Munetsi’s 29th-minute opener, which had given Wolves control of the contest.

Arokodare had endured a quiet start to life in England, failing to find the net in his first two Premier League outings against Newcastle United and Leeds United. But his composed finish against Everton now looks set to boost his confidence as Wolves progress to the fourth round of the competition.

Signed for £24 million from Belgian side Genk on transfer deadline day, the Nigeria international penned a four-year deal with Wolves. He arrives with a prolific reputation, having scored 21 goals in the Belgian Pro League last season to claim the Golden Boot.

With Wolves aiming to strengthen their attacking options, Arokodare is expected to form a key partnership with Jorgen Strand Larsen as manager Vítor Pereira side look to get their domestic season back on track after recording 0 points from 5 matches.
