AC Milan’s pursuit of Nigerian striker Victor Boniface has hit a cautious pause, as the club continues to assess the forward’s medical condition before finalising the deal.

Club director Igli Tare confirmed that Boniface’s footballing talent is not in doubt, but the Rossoneri want to ensure there are no hidden risks before moving forward. “We are checking Victor Boniface medical. His football skills are excellent but we need to take the right decision,” Tare stated. He further added that the club will consult head coach Massimiliano Allegri before making a final call: “We will make final decision soon on his medical also with our coach Max Allegri.”

The delays stem from Boniface’s previous injury setbacks, including two cruciate ligament ruptures and multiple muscular issues, raising red flags in Milan’s medical team. As a result, further examinations particularly of his right knee are scheduled for Saturday before any final decision can be made.

Boniface, who currently plays for Bayer Leverkusen, has emerged as one of Europe’s most exciting attacking prospects, thanks to his strength, finishing ability, and link-up play. AC Milan have long admired the Nigerian international, with the player expected to provide a fresh attacking option for the Serie A giants.

However, this latest development underscores Milan’s careful approach, as they seek to avoid past mistakes with injury-prone signings. For Boniface, the coming days will be crucial, as medical clearance could unlock a major move to San Siro and establish him as one of the Nigerian stars flying high in Italy’s top flight.
