The Troost-Ekong Foundation is set to host its second edition of the highly anticipated charity football match, #PlayForPurpose, on Sunday, June 22, at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos. The event will bring together top stars from the worlds of sports and entertainment to raise funds for underprivileged and vulnerable children.
Supported by NoOnes and backed by sponsors such as BFA Sports, Puma, and Power Horse, the charity match promises to be a powerful blend of celebrity action and social impact.
Among the big names expected to grace the pitch are world-renowned boxer Anthony Joshua, Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, former Super Eagles stars Obafemi Martins, Odion Ighalo, and Vincent Enyeama. They will be joined by popular Nigerian entertainers including ODUMODUBLVCK, Falz, and Flavour — all lending their voices and presence to support a noble cause.
This marks the second charity match organized by the Troost-Ekong Foundation. The first event, held in Uyo, was a resounding success, drawing fans and supporters from across the country. It featured a mix of ex-footballers, comedians, musicians, and current Super Eagles players, all united in their mission to give back through football.
Founded by Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong, the foundation focuses on using football as a tool to uplift children from disadvantaged backgrounds. Since its launch, the initiative has gained widespread support and recognition from both public figures and corporate partners.
Ahead of the Lagos event, the foundation recently held a jersey unveiling at the Puma store in Palms Mall, Lekki. The occasion drew a large turnout of fans and well-wishers. Notable attendees included Bobo Ajudua, a legal expert and key partner at BFA & Co Legal.
#PlayForPurpose is more than just a football game, it’s a celebration of hope, unity, and the power of sport to make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.
