Nigerian striker Victor Boniface has firmly dismissed swirling transfer rumours, declaring his commitment to Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Speaking in a recent interview with German outlet Sport Bild, Boniface ended speculation about his future and links to top European clubs, insisting he has no plans to leave.
“Absolutely,” Boniface responded when asked whether he intends to remain with the German side.
“My future is here. From my perspective, it’s 100 per cent clear that I’m staying. I still have three years left on my contract. I want to win titles with Bayer and have a great season.”
“Even when things weren’t going so well for me last season, I spoke to sporting director Simon Rolfes and told him that I love it here. The January transfer to Al-Nassr didn’t work out. It is what it is. I’m here.”
The 24-year-old had been the subject of transfer talk, notably with Italian giants AC Milan. The rumour was sparked by Italian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who reported that “Nigerian striker has opened the door to a permanent move to the Rossoneri as talks with Boniface’s side have already taken place,” in a post on X.

Earlier in January, Boniface had also been linked with a €60 million move to Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr, but those talks reportedly fell through. His market value has since dropped to an estimated €30–40 million, according to Gazzetta, sparking renewed interest from several European clubs.
Despite the buzz, Boniface and his agent Aneke Atta remain adamant about staying put.
“Victor has ended the season after his trip to the national team. He is now on holiday, will also train hard on holiday and then come back to prepare for the season,” Atta said in June.
“There is a new coach and a new constellation, but still a very good team that plays in the Champions League again. Victor and I have never talked about a change.”
“We have not spoken with any other association. At the moment, there are no thoughts of leaving Leverkusen. Of course, you never know in football, but Victor loves playing for Leverkusen.”
Boniface joined Leverkusen from Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise for €20.5 million in 2023 and has since established himself as a key figure in the squad. As Leverkusen now prepares for the new season under coach Erik ten Hag, the Nigerian forward appears set to be a central part of the club’s plans both domestically and in Europe.
