Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen continued his sensational run of form with a brilliant brace as Galatasaray defeated Bodø/Glimt 3-1 in their UEFA Champions League Group Stage encounter at Rams Park, Istanbul, on Wednesday night.

The Super Eagles star opened the scoring in the 3rd minute, firing a precise right-footed shot into the bottom corner after being teed up by Mario Lemina. Osimhen doubled his tally in the 33rd minute, this time with his left foot, beating the Norwegian side’s goalkeeper with a calm finish from close range after an error from a Bodø/Glimt defender.

Yunus Akgün added a third for Galatasaray in the 60th minute, curling a fine effort past the keeper to all but seal the victory. Osimhen was substituted in the 73rd minute to a standing ovation from the home crowd, replaced by Mauro Icardi.

Bodø/Glimt managed a late consolation when Andreas Helmersen headed home in the 75th minute, but the night belonged to Osimhen, who made history by becoming the first Galatasaray player to score in seven consecutive European matches, surpassing Burak Yilmaz’s long-standing record.

During this remarkable scoring streak, Osimhen has found the net against Tottenham, AZ Alkmaar, Dynamo Kyiv, Liverpool, and Bodø/Glimt, further cementing his status as one of Europe’s most lethal forwards.

The win also means Galatasaray have now secured back-to-back UEFA Champions League victories for the first time since December 2012, building on their memorable triumph over Liverpool in the previous matchday.

This was the first-ever European meeting between Galatasaray and Bodø/Glimt. Historically, the Turkish champions have had mixed fortunes against Norwegian opposition, but this result underlines their resurgence on the continental stage.
