Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has become the latest Nigerian player to drop out of the English top flight, following Leicester City’s relegation from the Premier League after a 1-0 loss to champions-elect Liverpool. The Foxes were already staring at relegation, but the defeat to Liverpool confirmed their drop to the Championship with five games still remaining in the season.
A stunning 76th-minute volley by Trent Alexander-Arnold secured the win for the Reds, pushing them closer to their 20th Premier League title. Liverpool now need just one more victory—potentially achievable in their upcoming fixture against Tottenham Hotspur—to seal the title.

This marks the second time in three seasons that Ndidi has faced relegation with Leicester, having also gone down in the 2022/23 campaign. Ndidi now joins fellow Nigerian internationals Joe Aribo and Paul Onuachu, who were earlier relegated with Southampton.
Despite Leicester’s struggles, Ndidi had a fairly decent season individually, recording four assists in 24 appearances for the Foxes. Ndid is projected to have a very busy transfer window with offers expected by keen observers.
