Egyptian giants Zamalek have parted ways with Portuguese coach and former Super Eagles manager Jose Peseiro after less than three months at the helm, the club announced on Wednesday.
In a statement posted on Facebook, Zamalek confirmed: “An agreement has been reached between Zamalek and coach Jose Peseiro to mutually terminate the contract. We wish you the best in your future endeavors.”

Peseiro, 65, took charge of Zamalek on February 14, becoming only the fifth coach to manage both Egyptian powerhouses, Zamalek and Al Ahly. Despite his decorated coaching resume—which includes stints with the national teams of Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, and Venezuela, as well as top clubs like Porto, Sporting CP, Al Hilal, Al Wahda, and Sharjah—Peseiro struggled to deliver results in Cairo.
During his brief tenure, Zamalek crashed out of both the CAF Confederation Cup and the Egyptian League Cup. A string of disappointing league results also saw the defending champions fall to third place, seven points behind current Egyptian Premier League leaders Pyramids FC.
Peseiro’s exit adds to Zamalek’s coaching carousel in recent years, highlighting the mounting pressure on the club to return to winning ways both domestically and on the continental stage.
