Gateway Games 2024: Musa Abdullahi’s Late Strike Sends Ogun State to Football Semi-Finals

Team Ogun State continued their impressive run at the National Sports Festival tagged Gateway Games 2024 with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Team Delta in the football quarter-finals of the National Sports Festival, securing a place in the last four.

In a thrilling contest, Remo Stars winger Jabbar Malik opened the scoring in the 21st minute for the hosts, but their lead was short-lived as Qudus O equalized just three minutes later to level the score at 1-1 going into halftime.

The second half saw both teams pushing hard for a winner, matching each other in intensity and resilience. The deadlock was finally broken in the 86th minute when Musa Abdullahi capped off a superb team move to slot home the winner, igniting wild celebrations from the home crowd.

With the win, Team Ogun State advance to the semi-finals, where they will meet Team Kaduna in a bid for a place in the final.

Kwara State 2 – 0 Imo State

The Gateway Games continue to showcase top-tier youth talent across the country, with Ogun’s home crowd now rallying behind their football team’s quest for gold.
