The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially launched a new media initiative, ‘Mission X’, designed to rally Nigerians at home and abroad in support of the Super Falcons as they gear up for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

This campaign marks a renewed effort by the federation to show stronger commitment to Nigeria’s most successful national team, following ongoing public criticism over the perceived lack of support for the women’s squad.

“We are committed to fully supporting the Super Falcons’ campaign for a 10th continental title, and that is why we are launching the Mission X campaign to sensitise football-loving Nigerians at home and in the diaspora, young and old, in high and low places, and male and female, to also come out and support the team,” NFF General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi said.

The campaign centers on the inspiring slogan: “One Team. One Goal. One More Star.” Its purpose is to mobilize national unity and pride, transforming fan enthusiasm into a tangible force behind the Falcons as they pursue a record-extending 10th WAFCON crown.

“The Super Falcons remain the most decorated national team in African football. We are proud of what they have achieved and what they intend to achieve in Morocco,” Sanusi added.

“We want the Super Falcons to feel the energy of our football-passionate fans everywhere they go, from Abuja to Casablanca, where they will play their group stage matches, and at any other venue they have to play their knockout games in Morocco.”

The launch of Mission X also comes in response to growing public concern over gender disparities in Nigerian football, particularly the contrast in treatment between the men’s and women’s teams. By launching this campaign, the NFF aims to reshape public perception, strengthen national support, and ensure the Super Falcons receive the recognition they deserve ahead of their campaign in Morocco.

We’ve ruled Africa before… now, we’re back for our crown. 👑

The hunt for WAFCON title number 🔟 is on and the fire is already burning.
