Victor Osimhen is on the cusp of a maiden league title with reigning Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray after their impressive 2-0 away win over Trabzonspor at Papara Park on Saturday. That victory now puts the club just one point away from clinching the 2024/2025 top-flight crown.

Despite featuring for the full 90 minutes, the Super Eagles striker did not add to his tally of goals and assists in the hard-fought victory. Yet, even with a blank scoring sheet, the former Lille forward is poised to claim only his second career league title—having previously won the Italian Serie A crown with Napoli in the 2022/2023 season.

After a goalless opening half, defender Abdulkerim Bardakci broke the deadlock in the 66th minute with a powerful header from a well-delivered corner. Then, substitute Alvaro Morata, who came on in the 77th minute, sealed the win with a clinical strike in the 84th minute after being teed up by Yunus Akgun.

As Galatasaray edge ever closer to reclaiming the Turkish Super Lig title, Nigerian star Victor Osimhen expressed his admiration for both the club and its passionate supporters in an emotional tribute following Saturday’s crucial win—which lifted Galatasaray to 86 points and placed them within striking distance of the title.

Taking to his Instagram story shortly after the match, Osimhen penned:
“Another big step taken! Super proud of this team!!!!
To the Galatasaray fans, your energy fuels us. We feel your passion in every pass, every tackle, every goal. We’re almost there, the league title is within touching distance. Time to start warming up those dancing shoes!”

With the league title nearly secured, attention now shifts to the Turkish Cup final against Trabzonspor next Wednesday—a golden chance for Galatasaray to complete a memorable domestic double. Osimhen summed up the mood, adding:
“It’s not over yet. All focus now turns to Wednesday. Let’s finish this season the Galatasaray way: with pride, passion, and silverware. God is the Greatest.”
