Remo Stars Football Club were officially crowned champions of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on Sunday after a resounding 4-1 victory over Ikorodu City at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State.
Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, presented the NPFL trophy to the jubilant players and officials, marking a historic day for the Ogun-based club as they celebrated their first-ever top-flight title.
Despite falling behind in the 15th minute, Remo Stars roared back with four unanswered goals. Sikiru Alimi leveled in the 37th minute after capitalizing on a defensive mistake, and Ibrahim Shuaib gave them the lead in the 41st minute thanks to a clever assist from Babatunde Bello.
The momentum continued into the second half as Bello, celebrating his birthday, scored a brilliantly worked goal in the 48th minute from a set-piece routine. Olamilekan Adedayo then sealed the win in the 67th minute with a clinical finish to make it 4-1.

The win took Remo Stars to 71 points, mathematically sealing the NPFL title with a game to spare. Founded in 2004 by Kunle Soname, the club’s rise through the ranks to national champions is a landmark moment—making them the first Southwest club to win the NPFL in 25 years, since Julius Berger last lifted the trophy.
